National Recycle Week starts today and runs from Monday 16th until Sunday 22nd October. The campaign aims to highlight the importance of recycling those items that sometimes get forgotten, so the hunt is on for aerosols, takeaway trays, food tins, plastic shampoo bottles and plastic cleaning bottles.
All you have to do is make sure items are clean, dry and loose (not bagged) when you pop them in your household recycling bin. More information on the campaign can be found here: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/recycle-week

Please let us know if you are happy for us to share it on our Instagram stories. - Facebook - Share your photo as a comment on the pinned post on the Suffolk Recycles Facebook page.

Coming very soon - Mission Food Savvy part 2 returns on October 23rd with a sequel to the thrilling world of spy movies to inspire local households to take their next food waste challenge. The targets for this operation are the top food waste villains of the season: potatoes, parsnips and other root vegetables.
Sgt Spuds and plucky parsnips bring daring, danger and a touch of humour to the captivating ‘blockbuster’ marketing campaign.
Our trusty heroes use cunning hiding places and come back from the brink to escape the clutches of the bin and live to be savoured another day.
They’ve already survived months buried underground, then travelled miles across rugged terrain before being bundled into plastic bags and sacks. Now they are on the loose, it’s up to you to help them complete their mission to make tasty meals!
The campaign aims to inspire households across Norfolk and Suffolk to take action to be Mission Food Savvy by:
- Planning meals before shopping to avoid waste
- Storing winter vegetables in optimal conditions
- Getting creative with leftovers
